Elsie Jane
Austin
Jul 21, 1927 — Feb 21, 2020
Springdale, NL
It is with sadness that the family of the late Elsie Austin (nee Short), age 92, announces her passing on Friday, February 21, 2020 from the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale.
Elsie was born on July 21, 1927 to Henry and Pearl Short of Miles Cove. She was a lady who loved life and made the best of life even despite the many challenges that life brought her way. Elsie chose to trust God with the very things that concerned her. Her faith in God was paramount; she loved and faithfully supported her church. Elsie was a woman of the word. She was a reflection of the Proverbs 31 women. Though she never had any children of her own she treated her stepchildren and step-grandchildren like her very own, they were all very important to her and very much loved by her.
Elsie was a woman who had various hobbies but sewing was her greatest passion; she sewed all of her own clothing. She also loved to go berry picking and cutting wood with her husband Bramwell.
She will surely be missed by her family and friends, but not forgotten. They will cherish the memories built together on earth and they await that " glad reunion morning ."
Elsie is predeceased by her husband Bramwell Austin; 1 st husband Douglas Roberts; parents Henry and Pearl Short; stepmother Winnifred Short; brothers Malcolm Short, Raymond Short, Norman Short, Sydney Short, Willie Short; sisters Marjorie Short, Pearl Short, Alice Kelly, Laura Young.
She leaves to mourn, her stepdaughter Daphne Budgell; stepson Richard Austin; step-grandchildren Dennis Austin, Mark (Jennifer) Austin, Morgan Budgell (Shakara Coates), Alyssa Brace; step-great-grandchildren Joshua Sampson, Liam Sampson, Brooke Austin, Wilson Brace; sisters Doris Slade, Effie Burton, Marjorie (Lloyd) Wiseman, Bessie Reid, Donetta (Joe) Croucher, Thelma (Otto) Wiseman, Florence (Ron) Young; brothers Ambrose (Gladys) Short, Clarence (Wanda) Short; she had many nieces and nephews - they were all very special to her, as well as many other relatives and friends. Elsie will be truly missed by all who knew her, she will never be forgotten, and her memory will stay alive within the hearts of her family and friends.
