It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Stella Grant, age 84, of Springdale, NL announces her passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Home, on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.

Dorothy Grant was born in Lushes Bight, NL to Levi & Lucy Burton. She was one of ten children. She married Ira Grant of Springdale, NL on June 5, 1948. Together they raised eight children, including a set of twins.

Dorothy is known as "Mom, Nana and Mom Grant" to her family. She loved listening to music and liked a good joke and laugh. She followed the tradition of the Burton family by telling a good old story about almost anything to make others laugh. Dot'' also loved to knit and she knit many items for various people. She had other hobbies that she really loved such as quilting, cooking. Dorothy was a stay at home mom who loved to take care of the house and her family. She loved to play cards with her friends, share stories and a laugh with them...she always had the last say.

In February 2014, due to ill health, she took up residence in Valley Vista Senior''s Citizens Home, where she became like family'' to the staff and made many friends amongst the other residents. She lived there until her passing. She leaves to mourn and remember the wonderful life that she lived, her loving family, and friends.

Dorothy is predeceased by husband Ira Grant; son Hollis Grant; daughter Jean Parsons; parents Levi and Lucy Burton; sisters Pat Fifield and Avis Winsor; brother Ross Burton. She leaves to mourn daughters Bernice (Glen) McKay, Bonnie (Chris) Reid, Trudy Wyatt, and Sue (Scott) McKay; sons David Grant and Stephen Grant; grandchildren Kent (Leah) Parsons, Craig (Krista) Parsons, Angel Grant, Kimberly (Terry) Allen, Tonia (Jason) King, Natasha (David) Izett, Christopher Reid, Shawn (Corinne) Wyatt, Shana Grant, Grant McKay, and Jessica (Brandon) McGrath;18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Bonnie Earle, Joan (Lloyd) James, Pauline (Howard) Wheeler, and Marion Huxter; brothers Gerald (Maisie) Burton and Terry (Patty) Burton; niece Marilyn Sheen.

The private Celebration of Life Service was held from Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Interment was at the United Church Cemetery, Springdale, NL. The pallbearers were son Stephen Grant; grandchildren Grant McKay, Shana Grant, Jessica McGrath, Craig Parsons; friend Kyle Morgan. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
