It is with great sadness that the family of the late Daisy Reta Bennett, age 86, of Beachside, NL announces her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Home, on January 16, 2015.
The daughter of a farmer, Daisy was born on March 1, 1928 in Southern Arm, NL. Her parents Frederick and Beatrice Verge raised her to be the precious gift she was to all of us up to her passing on January 16, 2015.
Daisy grew up in Southern Arm with her brothers Fred, Phil and Harold and her sister Winnie. She married John (Jack) Bennett from Ward''s Harbour, NL on June 21, 1944. They settled in Wild Bight (now Beachside) and raised 12 children. Their first born Albert Junior was born on November 11, 1945, followed by 11 other children - 4 more sons and 7 daughters.
From her beautiful smile to her love for quilting and knitting, Daisy was a precious person that drew people to her. Her unassuming presence wherever she went gave people a sense that they were special to her. She loved everyone and spread her gentleness and patience to whomever she met.
In 1980 she committed her life to the Lord and faithfully attended Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle in Beachside, NL.She lived a very rich, full and happy life until she peacefully passed away at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens'' Home in Springdale, NL.
Predeceased by her parents Frederick and Beatrice Verge, her husband Albert Hubert (Jack) Bennett, her sisters Winifred and Clara, her brother Fred, granddaughter June Blackwood and great-granddaughter Mackenzie Kaylee Bennett.
She leaves to mourn her brothers Phil (Lillian) and Harold; her daughters Vivian Andrews (Henry), Louise Thomas (Luke), Mildred Short (Harold), Florence Drover (Kenneth), Violet Croucher (Larry), Lorna Verge (Ward) and Joy Lemieux (Mario); her sons Junior (Theresa), Arthur (Juanita), Bruce, Leonard (Brenda), and Ivan (Eileen); and over 70 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Home Going service was held from Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, Beachside on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 with Pastor James Lander officiating. Interment was at The Beachside Pentecostal Cemetery. Honorary pallbearer: grandson Gregory Verge. The pallbearers were grandsons Bradley Short, Jeffery Short, Aaron Bennett, Rodney Drover, Arthur Andrews and Curtis Andrews. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gail Hancock, Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
In Loving Memory - donations gladly accepted on behalf of family towards "Uganda Missions Trip" c/o Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, Beachside, NL.
