It is with great sadness that the family of the late Violet "Christiana" Lucy Dicks, age 80, of South Brook, NL announces her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Centre, on December 20, 2014. On December 18, 1934 Violet Christiana Lucy Mckay (known as Crissie to her family and friends) was born in Little Bay Islands, Newfoundland to Walter and Pearl McKay. On August 28, 1951 she married the love of her life, William Dicks, of South Brook, Newfoundland. Together they raised their two children Verlie and Kevin. Crissie enjoyed and had a great love for many things in life. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, having flowers around, visiting with people, and she loved her family deeply. Her great-grandson Ryan had a very special place in Nan''s heart.
As a result of her love for cooking, she became a well known cook. She worked in various food establishments in Springdale and South Brook. If one wanted a fine "Newfie Scoff", Crissie could surely cook up that.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Crissie was dearly loved and will forever be in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
