It is with sadness that the family of the late Cora Minnie Penney (nee McKay), age 90, of South Brook, NL announce her passing on October 28, 2023 with her family by her side.

Known in her community first and foremost as a faithful follower and servant of Jesus, in her 90 years, Cora ministered and touched the lives of young and old alike. From years of being a Sunday school teacher to providing friendship, support and home care services to many elders in the community, Cora did not discriminate or judge. If you knew her, she would have touched your life, somehow. She was what we could call a "Saint".

Leaving to mourn are her children, Sydney Jr (Angie), Violet Henstridge (Woodrow), Gloria Levor (Maurice),Netta Macleod (Graham), Cyril Penney (Ruthanne), Roger Penney (Annie) & Cathy Kelly (Danny); 16 grandchildren, 28 (and 2 more on the way) great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Selby Mckay, Warrick Mckay (Ruth) & Baxter McKay (Fannie); sisters, Joan (Ford) Mesher and Eileen Matthews;. as well as a nieces, nephews, other relatives, near relatives including Sherman King, someone who called her "mother".

Cora was predeceased by her lifelong husband, Sidney Penney; parents, Harold and Eva Mckay (Wiseman); her birth mother, Winnie Mckay (Simms); sisters, Gladys and Daisy; brothers, Lewis, Mike, Pat and Bud; step-son, Melvin; granddaughter, Julia, and great-granddaughter Chelsea.

The Celebration of Life Service was held at The Apostolic Faith Church, South Brook, NL on October, 31, 2023. with Pastor Eric Compton officiating. The interment followed the Apostolic Faith Cemetery, South Brook, NL. The pallbearers were her children, Violet, Gloria, Netta, Cyril, Roger, and Cathy.
