It is with sadness that the family of the late Cluney Bramwell Thomas Dawe, age 87 of King's Point, NL announces his passing from the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale, NL on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Cluney was born on September 1, 1929 at Rattling Brook, NL to Thomas and Sarah Dawe. He married the love of his life Phyllis Newbury on April 23, 1951. Together they had four children - Lillian, Junior, Tony, and Glenis.
Cluney, Phyllis and their family lived in Rattling Brook from 1951 to 1974. In 1974 they relocated to and settled in King's Point. After they moved to King's Point, they began to attend The Salvation Army and became members. Cluney was a lifelong men's fellowship member, he loved the Lord, and attended church faithfully; until his health prohibited him from attending.
He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. Cluney worked for many years in the woods, as a logger. For a short time he worked at Little Bay Mines. After he left the mines, he worked as a porter operator. Cluney loved to work in the woods, he loved to cut firewood, not only did he cut firewood for himself but he enjoyed helping others to saw and split their wood.
Cluney had many pastimes such as spending time in his workshop making things such as small lighthouses, small boats, sleds, and Christmas crafts for his family and friends. His Family came first, and then came the grandchildren and great-grandchildren which were his pride and joy! He loved all of his in-laws; there was nothing that he would not do for them.
With his family near him, he passed peacefully away into the presence of the Lord whom he loved. Cluney is now safe in the arms of the Lord, no more pain or confusion. Gone but not forgotten – forever in our hearts!
He is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Sarah Dawe; sister Cora Toms; bother-in-law Malcolm Toms.
Cluney leaves to mourn love of his life Phyllis Dawe (wife); sons Junior (Patricia) Dawe, Tony (Nina) Dawe; daughters Lillian (Sidney) Rideout, Glenis Dawe (Clifford Pittman); grandchildren Rodney Rideout, Valerie (Dean) Rice, Kevin Rideout, Shawna Dawe (Dave Carmichael), Darren Dawe (Katherine Hutchison), Jennifer (Jarett) Andrews, Jo-anne (Bobby) Newbury, Justin Roberts; great-grandchildren Felicia Rideout, Rachealle Rideout, Selena Rideout, Spencer Rideout, Claudette Rideout, Hailey Dawe, Thomas Dawe, Mira Carmichael, Shea Carmichael, Landon Newbury; as well as many other family members and friends.
