It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clifford Jordon Morey, age 88, of Miles Cove, NL announces his passing at the Central NL Regional Health Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on April 16, 2017.
Clifford was born on January 02, 1929 to Hector and Sarah Morey at Miles Cove, NL. He married Lydia Morey of Port Anson and together they raised three sons and two daughters.
He worked as a logger, driller, merchant of a small convenience store, operated a passenger boat, and lastly he worked as a fisherman.
As a volunteer he served as mayor of the town of Miles Cove for a period of time. He had a well known saying, "Jonas Cobbs".
Clifford really loved being out on the boat and enjoying the handiwork of his Creator, the great outdoors. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour as a teenager, serving Him for 71 years. Clifford was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Miles Cove, where he loved to play the accordion and also served as deacon on the Church Board.
He is predeceased by wife Lydia Morey; parents Hector and Sarah Morey; sister Nina Morey; daughter-in-law Shirley Morey.
Clifford leaves to mourn sons Melvin (Melvina) Morey, Otto Morey, Ivan (Viola) Morey; daughters Flora (Lloyd) Normore, Angela (Wayne) Burton; grandchildren Morris (Heather) Morey; Michael (Stephanie) Morey, Trina (David) Webb, Terri-Lynn (Jason) Simms, Trevor (Brittany) Morey, Janice (Eric) Harnish, Justin (Carla) Normore, Krista (David) Hamilton, Nathan Burton, Danny (Crystal) Morey; great grandchildren Emma, Mason, Madelyn, Logan, Brandon, Luke, Emily, Hudson, Rebecca, Jake, Logan, Landyn, Josiah, Ellie-Anna, Kendra, Nolan, Nakita; great-great grandson Gabe; brothers Pearce Morey, Howard (Claudine) Morey, David Morey; sister Marie Saunders; as well as many other family members and friends.
Clifford is now safe in the arms of His Lord and Saviour, free from pain and sickness. Gone but not forgotten – forever in our hearts!
The Home Going Service was held from Miles Cove Pentecostal Church, Miles Cove, NL on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Wells officiating, assisted by Pastor Joan Wells. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Miles Cove, NL. The pallbearers were grandchildren Morris Morey, Michael Morey, Justin Normore, Danny Morey, Nathan Burton, Krista Hamilton, Terri-Lynn Simms, Janice Harnish. Arrangements were entrusted to Bill Weeks, Elaine M. Rideout, and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
