It is with sadness that the family of the late Calvin F. Noble, age 83 of Springdale, NL announces his passing, surrounded by his family from the Green Bay Health Care Centre, Springdale, on Thursday, March 5, 2020.
Calvin F. Noble was born in Nipper's Harbour on September 15, 1936 to Frederick and Jesse Noble. He attended school in Nipper's Harbour and Bishop Falls and then attended Memorial University, where he studied to be a teacher. His career began as a teacher, after teaching for several years he started work with the Bank of Montreal.
Calvin and Verley met in Grand Falls, where he worked at the bank and she was a teacher. Calvin and Verley settled in Springdale and he worked at Hewletts as their accountant. They were married on August 7, 1965 in Springdale.
His favourite past time was working with numbers, volunteering with many organizations including The Salvation Army, the hospital board, and the school board. He was also an avid reader, especially of biographies.
He was known to be a true gentleman and a man of strong faith.
Calvin is predeceased by his parents Frederick and Jessie Noble; sisters Grace Osmond, Ella LeValliant, Dulcie Norman.
He leaves to remember the wonderful life he lived, his wife Verley Noble; nieces and nephews Ivan (Shirley–deceased) Osmond, Sharon (Reg) Carter, Boyd (Jane) Norman, Murray (Patricia) Osmond, Brenda (Donnie) Mercer, as well as many other family members and friends. He will surely be missed by his family and friends, but not forgotten.
The Service of Tribute and Memory was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm with Majors Joshua and Pauline Randell officiating. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. Pallbearers were nephew-in-law Reg Carter; nephews Ivan Osmond, Murray Osmond; friends Bond Ryan, Dwight Hewlett, Edward Chatman, Clarence Oxford. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
