Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late William 'Bill' Stoodley of Springdale, NL, age 72, announces his Promotion to Glory on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019 at The Health Science Centre, St. John's.

He is predeceased by his parents George and Annie Stoodley.

Bill leaves to remember the wonderful life that he lived, his wife Joan Stoodley (nee Oxford); sons Terry (Dale), Maurice (Shean), Shawn (Terri-Lynn), Peter (Charmaine Petten); daughter Ashley (Doug) Weighill; grandchildren Lesley Stoodley, Rianna Stoodley, Alisha Stoodley, Samantha Stoodley, Christopher Stoodley, Jonathan Stoodley, William Weighill, Trista Weighill; great-grandchildren Atman Roelke, Auron Roelke, Fife Roelke; brothers David (Joan )Stoodley, Lyndon Stoodley, Vaden Stoodley, Mervin (Beverly)Stoodley; sisters Beverly (Vianney) Belanger, Mondella (Bill) Martin, Linda (Allister) Lilly.

Bill, aka dad, was born to George and Annie Stoodley April 15, 1947 in New Waterford, NS. The celebration began there, but the fireworks started February 18, 1966. That's when he married Joan Oxford, aka our mom.

It didn't take long after before they had their first child. They didn't stop there having four more (may I'm bias) awesome children.

One of dad's simple pleasures was teaching his children, showing them how to navigate charted and uncharted waters in life. Lesson we will not forget.

It is no surprise to anyone the water and being outdoors in God's creation, sharing how fantastic His creation is.

Not all life was easy sailing. We have all learnt that, He showed us all that in the face of adversity family comes first, don't let the small stuff get you down and most importantly live and love!

Most of his life on the water working hard to support his family and working hard to teach us (this part is not inclusive to family) valuable lessons.

Spending time with family on the boat provided him with so much joy. It didn't need to be much, sometimes just steaming along ("dodge" he always said) is when the best memories happens. Lots of love...love lots!

The Celebration of Life Service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Majors Joshua & Pauline Randell officiating, assisted by Majors Gerald and Doreen Lacey. Interment was at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Cherry Crescent, Springdale. Honorary Pallbearers were friends Jim Dalley and Gerald Dalley.
