It is with sorrow that the family of the late Betty Rose Huxter, age 87, announce her passing at the Valley Vista Seniors Complex, Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Leaving to mourn are her husband Jim; daughters Barbara (Harvey) Rice, Kathy (Ron) Burton; son Rick (Annette) Huxter; sisters Elsie Curran, Mildred Huxter; brother Rupert (June) Locke; grandchildren Jennifer Rice, Heather Rice, Stephanie MacCuaig, Sara Huxter, Kendra Beaurivage, Kristal Baron and Vanessa Goudy; great-grandchildren Jenna Goudy, Kiera Huxter, Alex Naylor, Emerson MacCuaig, Jordon Beaurivage, Nathanal Beaurivage, Ryan Beaurivage, Dylan Beaurivage, Joshua Jackson, Cloe Jackson, Michael Baron, McKenzie Baron, Jacob Baron, Haley Rogers; great- great-grandchildren Hunter Goudy, Brighton Romund, Kolson Romund, Blakey Rodgers and Lennon Rodgers.
Predeceased by son Leonard Huxter; parents Ronald and Maggie Locke; sisters Edna Warr and Daisy Clarke.
Betty was born at Little Bay Island, on December 12, 1934. She started her work as a domestic at Curling, NL. When the Springdale Cottage Hospital opened in 1952, she was amongst the first class of Nurses' Aides. She continued to work there until she began her own family with her husband Jim, whom she married in 1953. They were married for 69 years.
After her family left home, Betty became a Personal Care Attendant at the Valley Vista Complex. She enjoyed outdoor camping, snowmobiling, berry picking and taking trips to Jim's various trapper camps. Other hobbies included knitting, crocheting, as well as quilting and sewing.
Betty was a member of the Women's Institute for many years. She enjoyed the friendship of its members and took pride in their achievements!
Betty was a faithful member of the Springdale Pentecostal Church for all her adult life. Ours and her firm belief in eternal life "beyond the veil" is what sustains us at this time.
The Celebration of Life service was held from Springdale Pentecostal Church, on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Lindsay Foster officiating. Interment was at the Springdale Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were son Rick Huxter; son-in-law Rob Burton; granddaughters Jennifer Rice, Heather Rice; brother Rupert Locks; nephew Wilbert Huxter. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Harry Oxford and Julia Budgell of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
