It is with great sadness that the family of the late Baxter Josiah Roberts of Robert's Arm, NL, age 93, announces his passing, on Monday, May 08, 2017 at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale, NL.
Baxter Josiah Roberts was born on July 17, 1923 to Fred and Mary Ann "Polly" Roberts of Triton, NL.
He met and married Beulah Short on March 2, 1950. They went on to have 13 children - 7 boys and 6 girls. Baxter enjoyed fishing down the shore, spending time at his cabin on the ridge, and going on road trips.
Baxter's 13 children went on to have 30 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In his later years Baxter and his wife (whom he loved dearly) moved to the Retirement Center in Springdale, where they spent the last few years of their lives enjoying family. He left behind a huge family and many friends to celebrate his life and remember him always.
He is predeceased by wife Beulah Roberts; parents Fred and Mary Ann "Polly" Roberts; daughters Edna Roberts, Velma Roberts; brothers Wesley Roberts, Norman Roberts, Claude Hibbs, Clayton Hibbs, Cliff Hibbs; sisters Clementine Ryan, Vera Hibbs, Pearl Hibbs.
Baxter leaves to mourn sons Claude (Jeanette) Roberts, Oral (Peggy) Roberts, Vaden (Vivian) Roberts, Gilbert (Juanita) Roberts, Nelson (Michelle) Roberts, Shawn (Neala) Roberts, Welson (Shirley) Roberts; daughters Hazel (Ern) Smith, Nola (Terry) Vincent, Liz (Steve) Roberts, and Elsie (Stan) Rubia; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family members and friends.
The Home Going service was held from Word of Life Tabernacle, Robert's Arm, NL on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastors Bill and Judy Harnum officiating. Interment was at the Pentecostal Cemetery, Robert's Arm, NL. Honorary pallbearer was granddaughter Rebecca Roberts. Pallbearers were grandchildren Susan Smith, Kayla Roberts, Terrilynn White, Jeffrey Vincent, Verenia Simpkins, Jonathan White. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale, NL.
