It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that the family of the late Barbara Joan Oxford (nee Weir), age 73 of Springdale, NL announces her passing at the Valley Vista Senior Citizens Complex, Springdale, on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Barbara was born on March 21, 1947 to Edmund and Gladys Weir on Little Bay Islands where she finished her schooling before moving to Springdale in 1963. It was there that she fell in love and married Clarence Oxford (Dick) with whom she celebrated more than 51 years of marriage and had two boys to whom she devoted her life to care for.

Barbara was faithful to God and the church throughout her life. She volunteered as a leader for several years in the Beavers, Boy Scouts Canada, and was long time member of the Home League of the Salvation Army. She was a private woman who enjoyed the company of her family and friends, and spent most of her early years caring for her family. She enjoyed being outdoors when the weather was fine; riding on the quad, canoeing, spending time at the cabin, and going on afternoon walks. One of the greatest joys of her life was spending time with her three grandchildren.

She passed away peacefully in her sleep with her hand held by her loving and devoted husband who feels great comfort in knowing she is gone to a better place.

She is predeceased by her parents Edmund and Gladys Weir; sister Betty Weir, brother Elmo Weir.

Barbara left indelible memories for her family and friends to cherish forever. She leaves to mourn her, husband Clarence (Dick) Oxford; sons Dwight (Janice) Oxford, Glen (Sukyung) Oxford; grandchildren Rebecca Oxford, Joanne Ha, Ian Ha; sister Donna (Donald) Pollett; brother Lloyd (Netta) Weir; Joan Weir-Tack (sister-in-law); nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and friends. Barbara will forever be remembered in our hearts.

The Celebration of Life service was held from The Salvation Army, Springdale, on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 11:00 am, with Majors Joshua and Pauline Randell Officiating. Pallbearers were brother Lloyd Weir; brothers-in-law Don Pollett, Kevin Oxford, Otto Oxford. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
