Obituary

AMBROSE SHORT 1920-2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ambrose Short of Springdale, NL, announces his passing on April 17, 2012. Ambrose was born in 1920 at Jerry''s Harbour, on Sunday Cove Island. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Roscella, brothers Hubert and Cecil; sisters Emily, Rhoda, and Bessie. He leaves to mourn his wife Netta; sons Wade (Jean), Eric (Cheryl), Craig (Una) and Darryl (Penny); grandchildren Rana, Jena, Megan, Philip, Lianne, Lucas, Nicole and Olivia; sisters Josephine McKay, Whelemina Morey, Ivy Chappell; brother Henry (Rosie) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He fished down the Labrador in summer and logged in over the winter until World war 11 intervened. After the war he returned and tried his hand at farming and started a family, marrying Netta Normore in 1951. He moved to Corner Brook and worked as a welder until his retirement in1985 and subsequently moved back to Springdale to enjoy retirement years. He always felt attached to his old home in Wellman''s Cove where he built a cabin and spent many pleasurable days puttering about and riding his ATV. Company was always welcome to drop by and spend time. He loved his family and nothing pleased him more than having them come home'' to be together. He always wanted to be near his grandchildren and made many visits on the mainland to be with them. Ambrose enjoyed his faith and was active in the church. Everyday he and Netta would spend time in daily devotions and prayer.
The funeral service was held from Grace United Church, Springdale on April 20, 2012, officiated by Diaconal Minister Catherine Gutjahr, assisted by Rev. George Gard with interment following at The United Church Cemetery.Pallbearers were: son, Eric; grandson, Lucas; David and Renee Normore,Roland Penney and Donald Huxter.
Funeral arrangement were entrusted to Gail Noel and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funerla Home, Springdale,NL.
