Obituary

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Ambrose Reid of Miles Cove, NL, age 81, announces his passing on January 2, 2023. Ambrose leaves to remember with beautiful memories the wonderful life he shared, his wife Nellie; sons Lorne (Elaine) Reid, Dean (Nancy) Reid); daughter Dena (Cyril) Jenkins; grandchildren Christopher (Mandy) Reid, Aimee (Shawn) Coish, Brandon Reid, Matthew Reid, Kayley Reid, Jagan Jenkins, Brooke Jenkins; great-grandchildren Raychel-Lynn Reid, Emma Reid, Lexie Reid, Liam Coish, Landon Coish; brothers Claude (Lily) Reid, Raymond Reid, Milton (Mabel) Reid, Gerald (Fronie) Reid, Eugene (Mondella) Reid; sisters Betty (Rex) Osmond, Gladys (Lot) Loveman, Pauline (Bill) Boyde, Christine (Dave) Rowe, Judy (Terry) Wall.

Ambrose is predeceased by parents Gordon and Bertha Reid; brother Hayward Reid.

Ambrose started his working by fishing in the summer and logging in the winters. He met Nellies when she came to Miles Cove as a teacher. They were happily married for 60 years and had three children. Ambrose worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with Bowers Pulp and Paper Company until 1993 when he retires. He loved everything about the outdoors, hunting, fishing and cutting wood. He served many years on the Community Council and Church Board. He was always ready to give a helping hand.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The Celebration of Life service was held from Mile Cove Pentecostal Church, on January 6, 2023 at 1:00pm with Pastor Ben Brown officiating. Interment was at Miles Cove Pentecostal Cemetery. Pallbearers were sons Lorne Reid, Dean Reid; grandsons, Christopher Reid, Jagan Jenkins; brother Milton Reid; brother-in-law Wesley Boone. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Harry Oxford and Julia Budgell of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
