Obituary

It is with sadness, yet a great hope that the family of the late Ada Etheleen Colbourne (nee Vincent), age 95, of Robert's Arm, NL announces her Promotion to Glory, at the Central NL Regional Hospital, Grand Falls-Windsor, on Sunday, February 21, 2021.

Ada was born on Vincent's point in Triton to Henry George and Lucy Vincent; she was the youngest of 5 girls.  Ada loved and served the Lord for all of her life and served in her church in many ways.  She was a Salvation Army soldier, Home League member for over 50 years. She was YPSM for a number of years and acting Sunday School Treasurer.  Ada lived a full life; she taught school for a while, attended Salvation Army Training College but after meeting Tom life had different plans for her.  She married Tom in July 1950; during this time she worked at Canada Post in Pilley's Island and later worked for FPI in Triton.  Together they raised 5 boys and took care of her sister Minnie's daughter (Judy) after her passing. Ada loved to care for her family but she always found something to keep her busy.  She even took in boarders who she made feel like part of their family.

Ada continued to keep herself busy after the passing of Tom by continuing to do quilting and knitting which many people got the privilege to enjoy.  She still didn't stop much from driving to Grand falls to see her sisters or going up to Craig's farm to pick strawberries, raspberries or help in any way she could.  She always found time to spend her Mondays at the Thrift Store and enjoyed it to the full.  At the age of 85 she moved to the Seniors Manor in Robert's Arm and then at about 90 she moved into Hollett's Retirement Centre where she still continued to knit, sew, and do puzzles.  She began to slow down in the past few years but continued to do her favorite things. The highlight of her day was when her grandchildren or great grandchildren would come for a visit.  They were sure to always put a smile on her face.  Rest easy Nan, you will be forever remembered and missed.  Love you forever!

She is predeceased by her, husband Thomas Colbourne; parents Henry and Lucy Vincent; sisters Bride Williams, Eileen Rice, Major Ivy Stoodley, Minnie Rice; daughter-in-law Sandra Colbourne.

Ada leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons, Aubrey Colbourne (Jean Roberts), Morris (Phyllis) Colbourne, Dean Colbourne (Ruby Holloway), Majors Duane (Doreen) Colbourne, Craig (Mona) Colbourne; grandchildren Jerry (Nancy) Colbourne, Jeffrey (Kelly) Colbourne, Johnny (Tammy) Colbourne, Jimmy Colbourne, Jenny Colbourne (Robert Dominix), Olivia Colbourne (David Escorcia), Emily Colbourne (Benjamin Davis), Eric Colbourne, Dana (Thomas) Fudge, Danielle Colbourne (Travis Temple), Jessica (Wade) Winsor, Julia Colbourne (Nelson Winsor), Jenna (Roman) Roberts; 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends.
